Everything You Need To Know:
Wedding Ceremony Ideas

It's highly likely you are going to spend a lot of money on your wedding reception, so you don't want to pay out a fortune for the service as well.

Wedding ceremony ideas The kind of wedding service you want will determine how much it will cost, but there are certainly plenty of ways to plan your wedding service on a budget and still have something beautiful and meaningful.

Here are our wedding ceremony ideas on a budget:

Church Ceremony

If you want to have your wedding ceremony in a church, you will be expected to pay the minister or priest who performs the ceremony. Occasionally you will also have to pay for the rental of the church facilities as well.

Some churches will decorate for you (usually at a price) while others will allow you to do your own decorating.

Here are our tips on how to save money on a church ceremony:

  • Look for a church that offers an all-inclusive package rather than individual fees.
  • Rent the church alone and hire your own minister.
  • Hold your ceremony mid-week when there are no other services, which may reduce the price.
  • Decorate the church yourself.
  • Offer to do some volunteer work at the church in exchange for a discount.
  • Churches will often offer a special rate if you are a member of the congregation.

Outdoor Ceremony

A beautiful park, the beach or your own back yard can make a romantic backdrop for a wedding ceremony and in most cases can work out to be a lot less expensive than other options.

Here are some tips if you plan on holding an outdoor wedding ceremony:

  • The most personal and most cost-effective outdoor ceremony is in your own back yard.
  • If you choose a public park or domain, make sure there are no other ceremonies or celebrations being held at the same
  • time. Also ensure you get the right permits etc beforehand.
  • Opt for a wedding celebrant or ordained minister rather than a priest as they are often less expensive.
  • You can forego chairs for the service as most guests are happy to stand during the ceremony. Creatively cordon off
  • the area you wish to use with ribbons, flower petals or fabric garlands.
  • Make your ceremony a more casual affair by setting an inventive theme.

You may choose instead to have your ceremony at a local courthouse or city hall building with a few cherished friends and family. Record the service and play the recording during your reception. This is a lovely way to share your vows with guests without having to spend a fortune on the ceremony.

Wedding Chapels

A wedding chapel may include a church, synagogue, mosque or other religious temple, but other wedding chapel options may be available in your area.

Many people think of Las Vegas style wedding chapels, but there are wedding chapels located everywhere from the Smoky Mountains to Hawaiian beaches, from Lake Tahoe to Disneyland. The majority of wedding chapels seat around one hundred to one hundred and fifty guests, but there is one to suit every size wedding party.

Many chapels advertise special features like stained glass windows, oak flooring, historical buildings, chandeliers and more. It is also possible to find modern chapels located in art galleries and modern complexes, so you will need to do some research to discover what is available in your area.

If you would like your service to be of a particular religion, most chapels host a number of different officiates who can provide the appropriate wedding ceremony for your needs.

Novelty and themed wedding chapels are springing up everywhere too. Aside from the ubiquitous Elvis chapels, you can choose a neon wedding in a luminous chapel, a cowboy chapel or an old-Hollywood inspired chapel. If a themed wedding chapel is just what you always wished for, try to incorporate the theme into all aspects of your wedding, including your attire, the decorations, music and food. It's a great way for you and your guests to have a lot of fun on your big day!
