The Gentle Art of Writing Love Letters

How to write a romantic love letter
that expresses how you REALLY feel. . .

How to write love lettersLove letters have been around since humans were first able to write and they mean as much now as they probably did then. A personal, hand written love letter (this is NOT the time to plug in the laptop!) is the ideal way to express how you feel in a way that will capture the heart of that someone special.

Love letters are not as difficult to write as you may think if you give it some careful thought - say what you feel as honestly and sincerely as you can.

How To Write A Love Letter

You don't have to be a Shakespeare or Byron to express your feelings with the affection and emotion that you genuinely feel. Sure, a love poem would still be a wonderful treat for your partner, but something written by you, in your words and from your heart could mean so much more.

In fact, love poems are a good place to start to search for ideas if those words of love are not flowing as smoothly as you would have liked. If you don't have a book of love poetry on your bookshelf, visit your local library and browse the romantic poets, like Shelley or Keats, Wordsworth or Tennyson for inspiration. Then adapt their words into your style.

Romantic quotes from the great authors can also give you the inspiration you need to wax poetic. Visit our romantic love quotes articles for a great place to start the creative juices flowing. Some of the most famous love quotes have come from sources you wouldn't have expected, so consider that if they can do it, so can you.

You may need to practice a couple of times until you get it right, so don't start writing on the expensive card or the handcrafted sheet of paper you just bought until you know exactly what you want to say.

To help you along, here are some helpful samples of prose that you can adapt for your own very personal, very romantic love letter.

I won't ever forget
what it was like before you
or how I would feel without you.

I won't ever forget
our first kiss
our last warm touch.

I won't ever let a day go by
without telling you

how very much you mean to me
how very deeply I love you
how very much I need you

You need never doubt
the way I feel about you

how much happier I am
with you in my life.

I love you
now and always.

You make my life complete
You heal my heart and show me pure joy
You touch my soul and teach me to laugh
You heal my mind and teach me to dream
You kiss my spirit and teach me to fly.

You are the best part of my life.

I find the words difficult
with just so many emotions tumbling through my mind

I feel only pride in you for who you are
and what you mean to me.

I struggle to put my words on paper but I must

You mean everything to me and more
even when the words don't come out quite right
I still feel such peace and complete assurance
that you understand.

Make your love letter even more special for your loved one by leaving it in a place where he or she will be surprised by it. Just remember, whatever you say and wherever you leave it to be found (even if it is by US mail), one of the sweetest ways of letting your partner know how much you love them is with a romantic love letter.

By using our love letter guide, you can keep the flames of romance burning bright in both your lives.
