Traditionally, the wedding shower is held two to six weeks before the wedding. But if the bride lives out of town, or many of the guests are flying in for the ceremony, the shower can be held up to two days before the wedding. As a general rule, the maid of honor, or chief bridesmaid, hosts the party, but any member of the family or a close friend can host a bridal shower. It's always a good idea to check the bride's calendar before setting the date, to ensure she's free - that applies to the groom too if it's a couples' shower. And try to find out if there are to be any other bridal showers held by friends or family so that guests aren't expected to attend more than one shower. from ShindigZ. Discuss the theme with the bride and find out what her preferences are, or what kind of gifts she would like. For example, if she's a keen gardener and gardening implements and plants would help get her started, have a garden-themed shower.

ShindigZ Kitchen bridal showers are very popular, as there seems to always be something most of us could use in the kitchen. Garden themed showers are becoming more popular for soon-to-be-married couples lucky enough to be moving in to their own home. Other good ideas are a wine and cheese themed shower, where the guests bring a bottle of wine or something for the pantry, and a shower for the groom, where guests bring a gift for the groom to add to his toolbox.
Here are some ideas for bridal shower games for the soon-to-be bride and groom. Name That Tune Before the shower, burn a CD or make a tape with about 20 excerpts from well known songs. Give each guest a pen and paper, with the object being to guess the name of the song and the artist in a certain amount of time (allow about 5-10 seconds for each song). The guest with the most correct song titles and artists wins. Make two lists on a white board or large sheet of paper you can attach to the wall. On the "A" list name one half of a celebrity couple and on the "B" list name the other half of the couple, like Romeo and Juliet or Elizabeth and Richard. Set a time limit depending on the number of couples you can come up with, and the guest with the most matched couples wins. A Mouthful of Trivia Before the shower ask the bride and groom individually a series of personal questions about themselves, such as the name of her first boyfriend, the name of his first pet, his favorite food, her favorite perfume etc. Write each question on a card, with the answer. Each guest at the shower poses a question to either the bride-to-be or groom. Each time they get an answer wrong, they must put a piece of bubble gum in his or her mouth. It's hilarious to watch the bride and groom try to answer the last few questions with a mouthful of bubble gum! Paper Bag Peek-A-Boo Place all the guests in a circle and ask them to place the paper bags over their heads. Instruct them to remove everything they're wearing that is not absolutely necessary. The person with the most items off in two minutes wins the prize. All guests who figure out the logical item to remove is the paper bag before the end of two minutes win a prize.
