Celebrity Engagements and Weddings

She is the daughter of a privileged Sydney family who became an Oscar-winning actress. He grew up in country Queensland and busked to make a living in Nashville before rising to country music stardom.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban opted for a traditional Roman Catholic wedding ceremony on a clear Sydney winter evening.

Nicole looked radiant in an ivory gown, designed by Nicolas Ghesquière for Balenciaga, and a veil. She arrived in a white 1948 Rolls Royce, lowered the window and thanked some of the 1,000 people outside to greet her.

Urban, 38, came by bus with other guests from a hotel. At 6.25pm the chapel’s bells tolled for five minutes to indicate that they had been married in the candle-lit ceremony.

Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman first met in January 2005 at a dinner where the Australian government was honoring both of them. But if there were sparks, no one knew.

In fact, both have been very guarded about talking about their relationship from the start.

Finally, Kidman last month told People magazine the two were going to get married after Kidman brought Urban to a gala for the United Nations Development Fund for Women, for which she serves as goodwill ambassador.

"He's actually my fiance," Kidman told People magazine. "I wouldn't be bringing my boyfriend."

The wedding band was designed by ex-pat Aussie girl Deborah Chaffey Brierre, a friend of Nic's, who described the ring as "classic, with a twist" - just like the Aussie lass. It is a platinum band, with continuous round diamonds in a loop around it.

The Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston marriage talk just won't stop. An earlier report claimed that Vince had snagged a half-million dollar 9½-carat radiant-cut canary diamond engagement ring.

Now US Weekly claims that while on vacation in Mexico the couple couldn't keep quiet anymore: “We're getting married,” Jen told a friend, a source says.

The big news capped off an otherwise calm, romantic trip. The duo divvied up their week between Girls Gone Wild founder Joe Francis’ Puerto Vallarta property and Cabo San Lucas, where they holed up in a $5,000-a-night, five-bedroom suite at the Villas Del Mar at Palmilla.

There's been no official announcement of course and their reps didn't return calls for comment.

Sheryl Crow forced herself to return the huge diamond engagement ring Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong gave her when he proposed to her because she found wearing it too painful.

Armstrong asked the singer/songwriter to marry him last summer, while the couple were vacationing in Sun Valley, Idaho, and presented the rocker with a rock of her own - a stunning six-carat sparkler.

The couple announced they were splitting in February this year and Crow couldn't bear to have the ring around reminding her of the past. She says, "It was a big old honking ring! It was beautiful and a symbol of something really, really sweet. But at that moment it also represented a lot of pain, you know, and also was quite expensive." She adds laughing, "And I don't know what the etiquette is with something like that!"

According to Royalist.com, wedding rumors were sparked after Albert's lover, swimmer Charlene Wittstock, was spotted shopping for an engagement ring.

The speculations were further fueled after the 48-year-old royal brought the South African beauty - 20 years his junior - to prestigious Monaco Automobile Club's gala recently.

The annual event is popular with Monaco's rich and famous and was also attended by the country's Principality's Minister of State, Jean-Paul Proust.

Albert officially introduced his stunning companion to the official guest and, soon after the Olympic athlete was spotted shaking hands with the Archbishop of Monaco, Bernard Barsi.

Monaco's Royal Palace has declined to comment on the speculations.

A love story which began in 2002 and led to an engagement announcement two years later has reached a sad conclusion as Canadian chanteuse Alanis Morissette and actor Ryan Reynolds have decided to part, according to People magazine's online web site.

Although a wedding date was never set, in 2004 the star of the romantic comedy "Just Friends" knelt on bended knee to present the "Jagged Little Pill" songsmith with an engagement ring adorned with a 3.75-carat, emerald cut diamond encircled by pink pavé stones which rested upon a diamond-encrusted platinum band.

Befitting such a regal venue as the Palazzo Contarini della Porta di Ferro, the star of NBC's "Medium" Patricia Arquette donned an ornately designed diadem on June 25, 2006 for her Venice vows with her long time love, Thomas Jane. The couple had been engaged since 2002.

Following the intimate ceremony at the 14th century inn, which offers patrons six guest rooms and 11 apartments for longer stays, the newlyweds began their new life as husband and wife aboard a gondola, which waited just outside the building's entrance on the Canal of Francesco della Vigna.

Wanna Be A Webmaster?

Way back before www.engagement-rings-guide.com started, I used to mumble about my career as a financial analyst, then a jewelry store person when asked what I did for a living.

Now I get a little thrill every time someone asks me what I do because I can say "I'm a writer and I own a number of websites." It just sounds so much more exciting, and the best part is, IT IS so much more exciting.

Every day brings new adventures and I couldn't begin to tell you how much more rewarding and less stressful working from home can be.

I get to be with my son when he comes home from school each day and I can go out for a latté with my gal pals whenever I feel like it. I'm not bound my a clock or a set routine, although those things are important when you work for yourself.

And it doesn't matter what you did for a living beforehand; students, farmers, business owners, stay at home moms, firemen and cleaners have all built websites that have enabled them to say goodbye to their ho-hum existence and join the ranks of webpreneurs.

And you don't need to have a degree in computing to get started. The simple block-by-block building technique makes it a breeze to build an attractive and well-designed website.
